1) Who we are

MALLEAB JOURNAL is a personal, non-commercial educational publication maintained by Bekkhozha Diyas in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The site publishes reflective commentary and curated references to third-party materials. This Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, shared, and protected when you access or use the site.

2) What we collect

  • Information you provide: email address when you subscribe; any information you send by email.
  • Automatically collected data: IP address, device/browser metadata, pages viewed, timestamps, referral URLs, and general location signals derived from IP.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small files placed on your device to remember preferences and measure traffic.

3) Why we use your data (lawful purposes)

  • Service delivery: operate the site, publish updates, deliver subscriber emails.
  • Communication: notify subscribers about new posts, pages, events, videos, and invitations to voluntary surveys or projects.
  • Analytics and performance: understand aggregate readership patterns to improve content and user experience.
  • Security and abuse prevention: detect spam, misuse, or technical anomalies.
We do not sell personal data.

4) Email subscriptions

If you subscribe, your email is used to send updates and related editorial notices. You may unsubscribe at any time via the footer link in each email or by contacting us.

5) Service providers and hosting

We rely on standard web infrastructure providers for hosting, delivery of subscription emails, and analytics. These vendors may process limited personal data strictly to provide their services to us and are bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. Where applicable, this may include the platform/analytics provider currently used to power the site and subscriptions.

6) Cookies & controls

  • Types: essential (site operation), performance/analytics (traffic and aggregate readership), preference (remember settings).
  • Your choices: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may impair site functionality.

7) Links and embedded content

The site contains links to third-party articles and videos (e.g., academic publishers, universities). Those sites operate under their own policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

8) Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by applicable law. Subscription emails are retained while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period thereafter for audit/security purposes.

9) International transfers

Because service providers may operate globally, your data may be processed outside your country. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied (e.g., contractual protections).

10) Your rights

Subject to local law, you may request: (a) access to your personal data; (b) correction; (c) deletion; (d) restriction or objection to certain processing; and (e) portability of data you provided. To exercise rights, email contact.malleab@gmail.com. We may verify your identity before responding.

11) Children’s data

This Site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, contact contact.malleab@gmail.com and we will delete it.
For visitors in jurisdictions that require parental consent for minors up to 16 years old, individuals under 16 should only subscribe or provide personal data with verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian.
On our Subscribe page, we ask you to confirm that you are 16+ (or have parental consent where required). When you click “I understand” and proceed to subscribe, we may record the date/time of your confirmation together with technical metadata (e.g., IP address and browser user-agent) solely to evidence that age/consent affirmation occurred. We use this minimal record for compliance and security; it is not used for marketing and is retained only as long as necessary to meet our legal obligations.

12) Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure; residual risk remains.

13) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy periodically. The “Effective date” will change when updates are posted. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes notice and acceptance.

14) Contact

For privacy questions or rights requests: contact.malleab@gmail.com.
Postal locality: Almaty, Kazakhstan (upon request we will provide a correspondence address).
